Teatermuseet

Theatre museum in Malmö

The Theatermuseum (theatre museum) in Malmös old town is operated by an association that has made it its mission to preserve and keep alive the history of the theatre and the performing arts in Skåne county.

The Theatermuseum has a large pool of props, costumes, posters, scripts and much more from the world of acting on the stage. In addition it shows permanent exhibitions about the life and work of native Malmö actors Nils Poppe (1908–2000) and Edvard Persson (1888–1957).

Another permanent exhibition is dedicated to the well-known Swedish clown Miko alias Göte Forsberg (1915–2005), who was often on stage in Malmö Folkets Park in the 1980s and 1990s.

During the year there are a few temporary exhibitions on various topics of the performing arts in Sweden.
