Grönviks Naturreservat

Nature reserve near Hensmåla

Grönviks Naturreservat is a 115-hectare nature reserve on the western side of the inland lake Stora Hensjön, located near Hensmåla, about 7 kilometers south of Tingsryd.

About 85 hectares of the Grönviks Naturreservat extend over the water surface and some islands of Stora Hensjön. The lake water, which is very clear and low in nutrients, is also used for drinking water for the municipality Tingsryd.

The southern part of the nature reserve is characterized by mixed forest of different composition and the rocky terrain at the lake shore. The middle part consists of a cultural landscape with fields and meadows, interspersed with small deciduous groves with single oaks, beeches, aspens or hazels, while the northern area is dominated by a closed coniferous forest.
