At the archipelago of Blekinge

The municipality of Karlskrona is located at the picturesque archipelago of southern Swedish county of Blekinge. With an area of over 1,000 square kilometers and almost 65,000 inhabitants it is by far the largest municipality in the province.

With approximately 35,000 inhabitants, the famous coastal and naval city Karlskrona is the largest city of the municipality and at the same time the capital of the province of Blekinge. In 1998, large parts of the old town including the naval basefrom the 17. century declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The next largest towns in the municipality are Rödeby with almost 3,500 inhabitants, Nättraby with 3,100 and Jämjö with nearly 2,600 residents. There are also two large islands – Hasslö[/ link] with 1,600 and [link=3-49]Sturkö with nearly 1,300 residents.
