Bolmers Högar

Grave mounds near Mellan-Grevie

The two grave mounds Bolmers Högar with a diameter of 25 and 26 meters and a height of 4 and 4.5 meters dates back to the Bronze Age (ca. 1300 BC.). They are located about 6 kilometers east of Vellinge, near the village Mellan-Grevie.

Bolmers Högar forms the northern part of the largest preserved area of Bronze Age tumuli in Scandinavia. The entire area is called Steglarps Gravfält (Steglarps burial ground) and includes 12 grave mounds, of which the other mounds are slightly smaller with a diameter of about 15 to 20 meters.

The size of the two mounds of Bolmer suggests that a very important person was buried there. The two passages dug into the mounds imply that the tombs has been looted.
