Tekniska Verkens Museum

Technical museum in Linköping

Tekniska Verkens Museum is the museum of public utilities of Linköping and is located on the grounds of Valla Gård, the rural part of the picturesque open-air museum Gamla Linköping on the outskirts of Linköping.

Tekniska Verkens Museum is housed in a multi-storey historical granary dating from 1869 and is located in the immediate vicinity of the carriage museum Westmanska Vagnmuseet and the agricultural engineering museum Odalmannens Museum.

The museum tells the story of more than 100 years of local public utilities and thus exemplarily of the general technical developments in drinking water supply and sewage disposal as well as waste management, power supply and district heating since the turn of the century.

The extensive exhibition shows the influence of the technological progress in water and energy supply on daily life and households during the past 100 years by means of numerous objects, reconstructed everyday situations and photos.

The exhibition also describes with numerous exhibits, diagrams and photographs the development of local public utilities from their beginnings as water and gas works to a modern all-rounder serving all areas of daily supply and disposal.
